Hello, MLA 2018. We see you checking this out.

You will have seen the seams in this quite sketch-like website — we’ve been meaning to articulate our thinking behind it, but the holidays and our families have taken over in the last month. We’ll do it in the next week. We’d love to get a conversation going with you, before the semester (or quarter) really gets going.

In the meantime, though: thoughts? Things we are already doing wrong? Something you’d like to contribute? Something you’d like to see here, that would be useful to you, that you are hoping someone else will contribute?

DiScontent will be successful only if you participate. If you were at yesterday’s presidential plenary at which Cathy Davidson conducted her masterful pedagogical demonstration, you’ll remember this, and we’re adopting it: we would like to see ALL hands go up. We don’t care whether you think you have something substantive to say. If you don’t, say that. Let us know you are here. Let us know what you hope for, what you fear, what drives you, what you need. Let us know you’re watching and not sure what to say.
